We know whether your child is newly diagnosed, or has been living with their disease for years, you need support. The daily grind, with all the meds, the treatments, the equipment, and the worry, is overwhelming and monotonous. And of course, all the while, the world keeps moving. Bills still need to be paid. Laundry still needs to get done. Your roots still start to show. The neighbors still expect you to keep your grass mowed.
We know your child comes first in your life, and that's as it should be. But we want to make sure you're heard, supported, and uplifted. For a few minutes, we want it to be about you. We can talk about disease. But maybe we can talk about shoes, too. Or those extra 5 pounds (Who are we kidding? It's more like 10).
So go raise the money, do the research, fight the fight. Just be sure to come back over here whenever you need a break. Hope, despair and heartbreak can wait a few minutes, while you rant, decompress, or just slip into a happy, albeit temporary, cocoon of denial.
Oh, and we love laughing around here. We find a gentle irreverence to be our own cure for the sleepless nights. However, we really like complaining and crying, too! Whatever keeps us sane, right?
